Hello, I’m Uti (she/her), a 30-something film writer living in Tangerang, Indonesia; and I have a problem. I think myself an artist, but I struggle in showing vulnerability in front of people. What if people hate me? What if they think I’m so self-absorbed for talking about myself? It’s scary AF. Nevertheless, I made this newsletter anyway as a practice in vulnerability.
Why “Sequence Six”? In an eight-sequence story structure, sequence six is usually where the protagonist’s biggest fear comes true. It’s dire and full of desperation, but it’s also usually where the protagonist gains wisdom before they rise in act three. I am afraid all the time, my friend. But I hope I have some wisdom to go along with it.
So what can you expect from this newsletter? Sometimes I post, sometimes I don’t. I don’t guarantee insights. I’m just navigating mental health, romance, creative pursuits, and life in the modern world. It will be a mix of English and Indonesian, but mostly English. I will share stuff that is too long to share on Twitter. If you enjoy reading something longer than 280 characters, then you may like this newsletter. It’s free!
In the meantime, as you wait for my weekly updates, you can:
check out my writing portfolio;
entertain yourself with my short story, “Buyan”; or
watch this high school drama I showran, “Catatan Akhir Sekolah the series”.
Talk to you soon!
